What happens during the consultation process?
Prior to coming to see me at one of my London nutrition clinics, I send you a questionnaire to complete which you bring to your first appointment. During the initial consultation, I take your case history and we establish your health goals such as boosting your energy or mood, improving your digestive health, or losing weight. I explain what I believe are the underlying causes to your health problems, and we then work on a tailored and easy-to-follow health plan aimed at addressing your symptoms and improving your health for the long-term.
I recommend a follow-up four to six weeks later so we can check on your progress and keep you moving forwards. I am available by email in between sessions so you can ask questions and for support when needed. Follow-ups can be carried out by phone if you are unable to meet me in person. The number of follow-ups required depends on each client’s individual health symptoms.
Tests
Laboratory testing such as stool or hormone analysis can provide valuable information on body systems and can help identify the root causes of health symptoms. For example, a laboratory stool test can reveal digestive problems such as parasites, a yeast overgrowth or an imbalance in gut bacteria, all of which can contribute to IBS symptoms such as bloating, constipation and diarrhoea, as well as fatigue and low mood. Carrying out tests can often result in a faster and more successful outcome. Please note that any testing is in addition to the cost of the consultation fee. Tests include:
- Comprehensive stool test – An advanced digestive analysis which looks at various factors including parasites, imbalances in gut bacteria and candida. This is a very useful test in cases of IBS, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), fatigue, diarrhoea, bloating, and constipation.
- Food intolerance – A pin prick blood test which tests for food intolerances for many common foods such as wheat, eggs, and cow’s milk.
- Female hormone profile – Used to check female hormone levels in cases of PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, infertility, menopause, etc.
- Adrenal hormone profile – A very useful test for checking adrenal hormone function in cases of high stress, low energy, anxiety, depression, etc.
- Thyroid hormone profile – Used to assess thyroid function in suspected cases of an overactive or underactive thyroid.
